What Apple Watch activity counts towards Paceline eHR Minutes?
For Apple Watch, Paceline eHR Minutes are derived from Apple's Exercise Minutes. You can read more about Exercise Minutes here: Get the most accurate measurements using your Apple Watch.
Linking your Apple Watch to Paceline
Follow these steps to connect your device:
- Tap the Profile icon in the upper left corner and select Linked Fitness Devices
- Tap Connect an Apple Watch
- Tap Turn All Categories On and then Allow
Did you get a new Apple Watch?
If you set up your new Apple Watch with the same iPhone you’re already using Paceline on, you don’t need to do anything else.
Did you get a new iPhone?
When you get a new iPhone, Apple will automatically transfer the Paceline app to your new device, but not your permissions and settings. Please follow these steps on your new phone:
- Delete and do a fresh reinstall of the Paceline app
- Unlink and relink your Apple Watch
- Profile → Linked Fitness Devices → Apple Health → Tap to Unlink → follow steps to Re-link.
Why isn’t my Apple Watch activity data syncing to Paceline?
If your Apple Watch activity isn’t appearing in Paceline worry not — it’s usually a simple permissions or network issue. The steps below will help refresh the connection between Paceline and your devices, so your effort is recognized and counted toward your progress.
Required Settings
In order for Paceline to work, you must enable the following settings on your iPhone:
Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness → Turn Fitness Tracking and Paceline ON.
Why: This allows Paceline to read your steps and movement data from Apple Health.
Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Paceline → Turn On All
Why: Enabling all categories ensures that Paceline can import complete data.
Settings → General → Background App Refresh → Paceline → ON
Why: Ensures Paceline can update and import your activity data smoothly, even when the app isn't open.
Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness → Turn Fitness Tracking and Health ON Why: This allows Paceline to read your steps and movement data from Apple Health.

Tips to improve reliability
- Keep your Apple Watch and iPhone paired, connected, and in proximity
- Leave Bluetooth ON, especially during workouts
- Open Paceline at least once a week to help iOS maintain background sync priority
- Enable Background App Refresh for Paceline
Troubleshooting Missing Activity Data
Quick Fixes
- Update your iPhone and Apple Watch to the latest software version
- Confirm that all Required Settings above are enabled
- Open Paceline and keep it open in the foreground for 3–5 minutes on a strong Wi-Fi or cellular connection (this is important)
- On the Activity tab, tap and pull down to refresh the data ****— If your activity appears, you're good to go. If not, continue below
Advanced iPhone Sync Troubleshooting
- Delete and reinstall the Paceline app on your phone
- Re-enable all Required Settings
- Make sure your iPhone and Apple Watch are charged to at least 50% battery
- Reconnect Apple Health:
- Paceline → Profile → Linked Fitness Devices → Apple Health → Unlink → Re-link.
- Open Paceline and let it sit in the foreground for several minutes to complete a sync.
- On the Activity tab, tap and pull down to refresh the data
