Oura + Paceline Guide

What Oura Ring activity counts toward Paceline eHR Minutes?

For Oura Ring users, Paceline eHR Minutes are based on Oura's Active Minutes / Elevated Heart Rate activity, depending on which metric your specific Oura device measures.

Active Minutes are derived from the minutes where your heart rate reaches moderate-to-vigorous activity levels, this means:

  • Total workout duration ≠ Paceline Minutes
  • Light activity or movement that doesn't elevate your heart rate enough may not count
  • Paceline only gives credit for activity data captured by your device (manual entries don't count)

Linking your Oura Ring to Paceline

Follow these steps to connect your device:

  1. Tap the Profile icon in the upper left corner and select Linked Fitness Devices
  2. If not already connected, link your phone's health app — tap Apple Health (iOS) or Google Health Connect (Android)
  3. Tap Connect another device, select Oura, sign into your Oura account, and allow all activity syncing permissions

Did you get a new Oura Ring?

If your new Oura Ring is set up under the same Oura account you're already linked to Paceline, you don't need to do anything else.

Did you get a new Phone?

When you get a new phone, the Paceline app is typically transferred over automatically. In some cases, permissions may need to be reauthorized. If your Oura is syncing with your new phone but not with Paceline, follow these steps:

  1. Delete and reinstall the Paceline app
  2. Unlink and relink Oura:

Why isn't my Oura Ring activity data syncing to Paceline?

If your Oura Ring activity isn't appearing in Paceline, worry not — it's usually a permissions or sync issue. The steps below will help refresh the connection between Paceline and your Oura Ring, so your effort is recognized and counted toward your progress.

Required Settings

Since Oura syncs through your phone's health platform, both the Oura app and Paceline need the right permissions.

iPhone (Apple Health)

  1. Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Oura → Turn on all permissions

Why: This allows your Oura Ring's data to write into Apple Health.

  2. Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Paceline → Turn On All

Why: Enabling all categories ensures Paceline can read your complete activity data from Apple Health.

  3. Settings → General → Background App Refresh → Paceline → ON

Why: Ensures Paceline can update and import your activity data smoothly, even when the app isn't open.

Android (Google Health Connect)

  1. Open the Health Connect app → App permissionsOura → enable all write permissions

Why: This allows your Oura Ring's data to sync into Health Connect.

  2. Open the Health Connect app → App permissionsPaceline → enable all read permissions

Why: This allows Paceline to pull your activity data from Health Connect.

  3. Settings → Apps → Paceline → Battery → Allow background activity

Why: Ensures Paceline can update your data even when the app isn't open.

Tips to improve reliability

  • Keep the Oura app installed, up to date, and syncing regularly
  • Open the Oura app at least once a day to push data to your phone's health platform
  • Leave Bluetooth ON so your Oura Ring stays synced to the Oura app
  • Open Paceline at least once a week to help maintain background sync priority
  • Enable Background App Refresh for Paceline

If your activity still doesn't appear after 24 hours, please contact us with a screenshot of the missing activity from your Oura app. Since we don’t have your physical device in-hand, this helps us find where the sync is getting stuck so that we can get you back on track.
